Job Description
Guild Hiring works with logistics, retail supply, and warehouse clients across the United Kingdom. We connect reliable workers with structured operational roles in distribution centres handling consumer goods, electronics, and packaged products. Our focus is on getting the right people into the right roles with proper training and clear scheduling from day one.
Job Role:
We are now recruiting Warehouse Assistants for a busy logistics and inventory team based in the UK. This is a hands-on, on-site role including general warehouse duties, stock handling and order prep.
The warehouse team of around 20 staff handles inbound and outbound stock for regional distribution. The day to day tasks involve scanning barcodes, organising shelves, labelling cartons and preparing pallets. You will report to a Floor Supervisor who will set daily picking and packing targets. Busy times — especially leading up to big retail campaigns — means the team works closely with delivery drivers and inventory controllers to keep orders moving on time.
This job is for people who like to do practical work, with clear routines and a steady pace.
Responsibilities
- Pick and pack products according to delivery orders and shipment schedules
- Check incoming stock for quantity accuracy and visible damage
- Organise cartons, pallets, and inventory in the correct warehouse sections
- Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks during receiving hours
- Use handheld scanners to update inventory movement in the warehouse system
- Keep packing stations and storage areas clean and safe throughout your shift
- Support stock counts during weekly inventory checks
- Report missing items, damaged goods, or labelling issues to your supervisor
- Follow workplace safety procedures at all times when using warehouse equipment
Requirements
- GCSE level education or equivalent preferred
- Physically able to stand, lift, and move inventory during shifts
- Basic understanding of warehouse or stock handling work
- Comfortable using barcode scanners or basic inventory software
- Reliable attendance — shift-based work depends on every team member
- Good at following instructions in a busy team environment
- Basic English communication skills for day-to-day coordination
Previous experience in packing, logistics, or storekeeping is welcome but not essential. Forklift certification is useful but not required for this position.
Working Hours and Shifts
This is a fully onsite role. Shift schedules include morning and afternoon rotations. You will be informed of your shift pattern before starting. During peak retail periods, additional hours may be available with advance notice.
What You Get
- Competitive hourly pay between £11.50 and £14.00
- Overtime pay in line with UK employment guidelines
- Onsite training provided for warehouse systems and procedures
- Company uniform and safety equipment supplied
- Public holiday and attendance incentives during peak periods
- Medical coverage after the confirmation period
- Long-term opportunities for the right candidates
