Houston Independent School Art Teacher

The Houston Independent School District is the largest school district in Texas and one of the largest in the United States. They serve hundreds of schools in Houston, with over 190,000 students. They are currently looking for an Art Teacher to work with one of their schools on a full time basis.
This is a real teaching job where you will be running your own art room day in and day out. You will be lesson planning, teaching students to work with a range of art materials and techniques and helping them to develop their creative skills. Job Role:

• Plan and deliver art lessons to students at different grade levels
• Teach a variety of art techniques including drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media
• Organize and maintain art classroom and all supplies.
• Evaluate students’ work and provide constructive feedback
• Organise student showcases and school art exhibitions as required
• Monitor student attendance and academic progress
• Work as part of the wider school team including other teachers and other school staff.

Job Responsiblity:

• Valid Texas teaching certificate with Art endorsement
• Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Art Education or related field
• Able to run classroom of students on his own
• Patient and supportive with students of all abilities
• Good organisational skills in planning lessons and managing resources
• A real love of art and sharing that with young people
• Communicate clearly with students, parents and school administration
