Job Description
Next is one of the most famous retail brands in the UK. They have hundreds of stores across the country selling clothing, homeware and accessories. Their Manchester Arndale store is one of their busiest and they are currently looking for full time Retail Assistants to join the team.
This is a job in the shop floor. You will be serving customers, keeping the store tidy and ensuring everything is stocked and looking great. No experience required. If you are friendly, reliable and like working with people you can start almost straight away.
Job Role:
Every day on the shop floor is slightly different but your main tasks will stay consistent:
- Welcome customers and help them locate what they’re looking for
- The correct operation of the till and cash and card transactions
- Making sure shelves, rails and displays are well stocked and neatly presented
- Supporting the fitting room – tidying the area and processing stock returns
- Receiving new deliveries and getting product on the shop floor quickly
- Handling customer returns and exchanges at the till
- To assist your team during busy times and peak trading hours
Requirements
- You must be at least 16 years old
- You must have the right to work in the UK
- A valid photo ID — passport, driving licence, or national ID card
- Your National Insurance number
- A UK bank account for weekly pay
- Good spoken English to communicate with customers and colleagues
- No retail experience required — Next trains you from your first day
- A friendly and approachable attitude when dealing with customers

Pay, Shifts and Hours
- £11.50 – £13.50 per hour based on experience and role
- Full time: 37.5 hours per week
- Day and evening shifts available across the week
- Weekend shifts are part of the schedule
- Weekly pay straight into your bank every Friday
- Overtime available during sale periods and Christmas trading
Your First Week at Next
Next provides proper training for all new starters. In your first week you will cover:
- How the store is laid out and where each department sits
- Till operation and how to handle different types of transactions
- How to process returns and exchanges correctly
- Store presentation standards and how Next expects products to look
- Health and safety procedures on the shop floor
- Who your manager is and how to raise any questions or concerns
