Houston Skilled Consultancy works with businesses across the UK in administration, logistics and operations. We are a remote-first company and our HR team takes care of people operations in multiple locations. We are currently looking for a full time HR Generalist to join us.
About the Role
This is a full-time, work-from-home HR role. You will look after a wide range of HR tasks — from hiring new staff to dealing with day-to-day employee matters. The job covers the full HR function, so no two days are exactly the same.
You’ll work directly with managers and staff across the business. Most of the work is self-directed. You manage your own time, meet your deadlines and raise issues as they come up. You don’t need someone to watch you every hour.

Responsiblity:
- Post jobs, screen CVs, arrange interviews, and onboard new starters
- Keep employee files and HR records accurate and up to date
- Deal with employee issues, absence, disputes, performance concerns in a fair and confidential way
- Make sure company HR policies stay in line with UK employment law
- Run appraisal and feedback processes when due
- Organise staff training and development where needed
- Help with payroll queries, annual leave, and benefits admin
- Keep communication clear between staff and management
- Spot HR issues early and suggest practical fixes
Requirements
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar
- Solid knowledge of UK HR law and best practices
- Clear written and spoken communication
- Good at managing several tasks without letting things slip
- Familiar with HR software and Microsoft Office
- Comfortable working alone from home with minimal hand-holding
- Careful and discreet when handling personal or sensitive information
Experience:
2 to 5 years in a generalist HR role
Experience across recruitment, employee relations, and general HR admin
Prior remote work experience is useful but not required
Working Hours
Full-time, Monday to Friday
Flexible start and finish times, but must be available during core UK business hours
Fully remote — no travel or office visits needed
