Here’s a big leadership opportunity in New York City Transit’s Department of Subways. If you’re ready to take charge, this senior management position puts you in control of all operations across about 125 subway stations in Brooklyn — everything from customer service and cleaning to maintenance and safety. You’ll work directly under the Vice President of Station Environment & Operations.
Job Role:
You’ll run daily operations for a huge zone of stations, oversee project teams tackling jobs like cleaning, sanitizing, painting, and track tile work, and set the tone for customer service, cleanliness, and ADA accessibility. Budgeting and resource allocation? That’s on you too, along with keeping inventory in check. Your job includes watching station performance, suggesting improvements, and making sure staff get the training they need. Safety and OSHA compliance will always be front and center. Since you’ll manage a unionized workforce, you’ll need to handle matters according to the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
To be considered for this role, you need at least a bachelor’s degree (business, public administration, transportation management, or something similar) and at least 10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 7 years leading teams. You’ll need a strong track record managing large unionized groups. Solid understanding of ADA rules, automated fare collection, and construction trades is a must. Top-notch communication and quick decision-making round out the requirements.
The salary ranges from $135,728 to $192,646 a year and includes eligibility for the 55-a Program. If your salary goes above $105,472, you’ll need to file annual financial disclosures. You’ll be officially part of the NYCT payroll if hired.
